I have recently purchased (1 month ago) a used Kawai BL61, built in 1976. But, because I live in a flat and I want friendly relationships with my neighbours, I will change to a silent system.

My dealer offers two alternatives (both for the same price):
1.- Install a Quiet Time system in my piano.
2.- Change my Kawai BL61 for a used Yamaha U30 silent.

Initially I am afraid of installing a "foreign" system inside the piano in despite of he says there will be no problem. On the other side, I haven't found any information about Yamaha U30 in Yamaha catalogs in the web, and I don't know how good it is compared with BL61 of Kawai.

Any information and advice will be welcome.

( I have to mention I am a beginner pianist)

It is always better to buy a piano that has had a factory fitted silent system However, having a retro fitted silent system is not big deal they add about 0.5 to the touch weight and the set off is altered from 3mm to 5mm depending on the system fitted you may like to consider the Gabor system which is cheaper than the Quiet Time

And to be honest it is not rocket science fitting them
