I have a Lighte and Newton Square Grand Piano and I am trying to find out some more information regarding the company, a possible date for the piano and an approximate value. The information that came with it were that it was c.1860 and the serial number is 1045. Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks.

My understanding is that Newton joined Lighte in 1851, at which time the published serial number was 6,200. Newton left in 1853, so theoretically, that dates your piano quite accurately. Is there another number anywhere? I can only proceed by reporting from photos, but with little experience of american instruments, I would be mainly comparing to british and european equivalents.
