I've been wanting to start playing paino for a while, and now I'm earning money, nothing stopping me.

I'm not made of money however, so whats a cheap way to get started? I've had my eye on a digital piano for about £500, how are they compared to the real thing?

I've also found a teacher in my local area, so I may give them a call.

Any advice you could give to me is greatly appreciated

Digital's better than nothing, but a proper piano lasts longer and keeps its value. From a teaching point of view, the touch of a digital is not the same, whatever they tell you in the shops, and neither is the sound, certainly not at the lower end of the price spectrum. Five hundred quid will get you a piano that'll take you to grade 5 or so, which at an adult's average rate of progress (because unlike kids, they have to do little things like work, cooking, cleaning, laundry... Confused ) should take around six years at least. Would a digital last that long? And could you sell it for what you bought it for six years later? I admit to being biased, but I never played a digital that convinced me... Wink

Hi there
I have to agree with Gill....in my opinion there is NOTHING that can compare with the sound and the feel of playing a real piano.
Good luck and have fun Smile
