Hi. Help! I'm in London and in the grey mist of trying to buy a second-hand small grand piano. I have up to &4,000 to spend. I'm not a great pianist but like to accompany my kids. I have a centrally heated Edwardian room 12ft square for it. The choices seem to be: 1) private sale (cheap but could be turkey) 2) London dealers like Jaques Samuel or Markson, or countryside dealers like Countrywide at Penn 3) Bonhams auction next Monday (but I'm told the prices are higher now the Americans have arrived). Any way out of this maze? What should I look for?
Also, my own Eavestaff mini-piano, lent to a friend, has a badge of recommendation from, I seem to remember, Princess Ingrid of Sweden. Does this make it even remotely valuable? Bet it doesn't.

You are not going to get much for 4,000 down south However, you do have http://www.uk-piano.org/pianos-for-sale-trade/detail.php?siteid=211

but you would have to travel – OTH if you are happy to have a new one out of the box with out looking then http://www.thepianoman.co.uk/new-pianos/steinbach/grands.html

But you need to up your price a bit to get a good grand with the 4000 you could get a nice upright the Irmler pianos are very nice for the price P122 start at 3,661

Piano Workshop also sell some nice painos with a5 year guarantee.
