Last year I bought a 100 year old Bechstein "B" for restoration, which has gone well so far.
I am trying to trace its history. It started life in 1907 being sold by Bechstein to a music publisher (C.A.Andre) in Frankfurt. When I got it it had the logo "Alfred Hinds Halifax" under the "C.Bechstein" logo.
I assume Hinds was a dealer/music shop but there's no record of them anywhere.
Can you cast any light on this, please?

When you say "there's no record of them anywhere" do you mean just on the internet? The vast majority of piano names are not on the net. Are you sure about the exact spelling of the name? We have an Albert Hind on our lists between the 1890s and 1930s in Halifax. He is listed under "Pianoforte Makers & Warehouses" but is presumed not to be a maker.

The restorers had removed the "Hinds" logo when repolishing but I found a pre-restoration photo. You are quite correct, it IS "Albert" not "Alfred"
