Hi everyone
I am trying to find something of the history of a Blucher(on name plate?) small upright piano. It has coin designs which mention Berlin, Venezeula Caracus 1885. I have looked and have not been able to find a manufactures hallmark on the interior of the piano yet. On the wood interior it has 841. It was given to us for my daughter to learn on. I wanted to find something about it as it seems old and ornate. I have been told there is a reference in the Pierce Piano Atlas (9th Edition, 1990). This book states some 1000 names to be so called "Pre World War I stencils", meaning that the name on the fallboard is not necessarily the name of the manufacturer. 'Blucher' is among these names.

The "coins" represent medals, and the fact that Blucher received exhibition medals in 1879 and 1885 shows that the firm was around then, but we have no record of them in the twentieth century.
