We have an old piano that was left in the old home my husband and I purchased. It says EC Phillips and Company, established 1850, Mare Street, Hackney. The serial number is a low number. I think 2652. I can not find any information on this company or piano. Has anyone ever heard of this company?

Yes, I certainly have some information on file about PHILLIPS (E.C.) & Co., London, but it's not 1850 Mare Street, they were at 415 Mare street, Hackney NE from at least 1899 to 1936.
1916? Piano #7906, said to have been bought new 1916.
1924 E.C. Phillips & Co. piano dated by Langer action number. This might help, if your tuner can find a name and number on the rear of the hammer rail. See the end of

I don't if they were ever real makers, see
