Can you tell me anything about an upright piano I recently purchased? It is a rosewood veneer full 52 inch Muirhead & Turnbull. It says Glasgow & London on the front. It has a beautiful inlay on the front panel which includes a "Tudor Rose" motif and I would say the style suggests a combination of Art Nuveau and Arts and Crafts elements. It is a lovely piano and I would appreciate any information about the manufacturer anyone could provide.
Thanks much

I am not convinced that they were real makers. Kelly's Directory of the Cabinet & Furnishing Trades (1886) is the earliest list we have so far for Glasgow. Pianoforte Makers & Warhehouses include Muirhead & Turnbull, 101 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow. Other later addresses include 259 Hope Street, and Dumbarton Road, Patrick, Glasgow. The firm ceased trading in 1923, according to Glasgow County Archives, and their last address was 226-228, Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow...
