I'm currently learning "Blueberry Hill" from the Tim Richard's " Improvising Blues Piano" book. Now, I have no trouble playing the piece as an instrumental, but once I start singing I have trouble handling the bass pattern while singing. Any advice? Should I simplify the left hand part, or should persist and hope it all comes together.

You could treat it like i would learning a sticky bit in an organ piece; I'd play (on the organ) pedals + right hand, then pedals +left hand, then slowly everything together. So you could play the bass part and sing, until the singing is more or less automatic, then right hand + singing, and then SLOWLY all together.
