Does anybody out there have any unwanted ivory keys or other ivory instrument parts?

Decisions could be made as early as March next year by CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) to re-open the ivory trade, which has been banned by 1989.

Sadly, sufficient controls and monitoring systems are not in place to ensure that this will not lead to a huge new wave of poaching similar to that which saw Africa's elephants slashed by 50% in the 1980s.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare is holding a UK-wide ivory amnesty. All donated ivory will be used to create a memorial to elephants which will be put on public display around the time the decisions will be made - and hopefully to spur the UK government into taking the strongest possible stand on this issue.
