Are there any books geared towards classical pianists wanting to learn some jazz?

I'm a very advanced classical pianist, licentiate and up, but somehow feel I'm missing out a big chunk of repertoire and joys of playing by not knowing how to improvise. During university I was taught some basics but not enough to stand on my own two feet...

I know there's a book called 'a classical approach to jazz piano', is that a good book to start with? Any recommendations would be really appreciated!

Hi,

Well, there's 'Jazz Improvisation for the Classical Pianist' by Martan Mann (often listed as Martin Mann) which seems right up your street. Although I don't have this tome, his blues book - which I do have - is excellent. If only I could play it all.

Rgds.
