Hi, I'm looking to buy an upright piano - ideally a Danemann or similar - something of reasonable quality but not excessive in terms of price to "get back up to speed" with my playing.
Good condition only please - this is more important with regard to the keys, strings, hammers, pedals etc all working - I'm not so bothered if the woodwork has a few "pre-loved" scrapes or knocks!
Would need to play it before buying (as action, keys, tone etc are down to individual preference & nearly impossible to describe) so the closer to me in York, the better but would be willing to travel.
Hope the piano of my dreams is out there...! |

| Hi, yes I'm still looking - in fact you're my first reply! Do you have something suitable for sale? |

Good to hear from you. We do have a piano for sale but unfortunately it is not a Danemann. Have tried to look at pics of Danemann pianos to see how they compare with ours, but not being an expert, cannot comment.
We have a Rud Ibach & Son upright, iron-framed, over-strung, burr-walnut finished piano which has been repeatedly described as having 'lovely tone'. Don't know if you are familiar with Ibach, but we understand they are the world's oldest surviving family owned piano manufacturers - a respected German company.
Our daughter played to Grade 5 and moved on. As much as the piano is a nice piece of furniture, we really want to free up the space and are only looking for a reasonable price.
From your comments about what you are looking for, this piano may be of interest to you - it has certainly been well-loved and in spite of it's age, it retains it's dignity and has, I think, many more years to give!
I have a few photographs that I can email to you. I am not used to using 'forums' (my daughter set this up for me) and don't know the protocol, but am giving you my email address as follows, since I don't know how to 'attach' on here: |

Hello there, are you still looking for a piano or have you already found one ? I've seen that the last post dates back to Sept. so probably you have.... Please let us know as we are desperately trying to sell our Weidermann (end of 19th century - upright iron frame overstrung - wallnut casing) due to lack of room in the house. Cheers!
