I am going to buy a piano, and the more I read the more confused I get...
Can anybody give me any advise on buying a piano for home use only. My budget is at absolutely max £3000.
I appreciate all answers! |

| With the same budget as you I bought a second-hand Yamaha U3, which I've been exceedingly pleased with.... |

Yes.
Certainly in the UK one can buy a decent grey market U3 for about 3k. Not sure about Norway.
A U1 of newer vintage may well be found at the same price, either of which will knock the Cambridge which is a very good, worthy, if slightly uninteresting piano into the proverbial cocked hat.
Try and find a U1 or U3 with a serial number above 4 million. |

Thanks a lot!
I have found a 35 year U1 at around £2700. To old for the price? It is delivered by a dealer with a five year garantee. I will write the dealer for a serial number.
Is the U3 better than the U1? What is the difference? The height and thereby the tone? |

I am also thinking a little bit about stretching by budget to £3500 and get a new Kawai K3. Is that an idea? It is really going to make me broke for a while though...
Or will I get more for the money with a U1 or U3? |

| What about the May Berlin 121 M? It is on sale for around £3200. |
