At Surrey History Centre home to the Broadwood Piano Archive.
The book is based on Madeline Goold's quest to uncover the identities of the people who owned and played a particular square piano. This biography of a now almost forgotten instrument, which once held pride of place in drawing rooms throughout Britain and its Empire, is a journey that begins with the Broadwood piano archives in Surrey and continues through two centuries of musical lives.
