I have recently saved a Boyd Ltd London upright Piano from being thrown out and I am wondering how old it is, the serial number is 31233 and on the underside of the top cover there is printed five gold medals awards.
Also looking inside the Piano I have noticed a signature with the 23.5.16 underneath it, could this be the date when this piano was made ?

Am I right in thinking this date is on the iron frame, below keyboard level? If so, it is the date the frame was cast, so the piano's design existed then, but the individual may not have been completed for up to 6 years. I can quote for a general booklet on Boyd pianos, press www below.
