I have an old piano named Banton, Berlin, with serial number 43552, on the iron plate i found M&S. I can't find any information about this piano. Please help me if you know something.

There was an E. Bantow in Berlin in the twenties, I have no details yet.

Is it possible that "M&S" is Mehlin & Sons ? I found information that pianos with serial number starting from 43500 were made in 1932 by Mehlin & Sons.

Why an American firm? It could be Mehlin, or Manville, Marshall, Mayer, Meyer, etc., there is no way of knowing. I don't think Marks & Spencer ever sold pianos, "&S" often means "and sons", but the surname could be anything anywhere beginning with M. The most likely explanation is that is a retailer, not the maker. Almost every reasonably large company would have numbers in that range at some time, too much importance is placed on numbers. Could you email me some photos, especially interior details?
