Hello!
I would like to find out approx when my piano was made, a John Spencer & Co upright. the piano tuner thought it was 1880s to 1890s, and it is in very good condition, considering it came down under from London, god knows when. The serial number is 18596 and it is shown in the upper right hand corner, beneath the John Spencer logo plus a number, 2B beneath the name.
Would also like to know if it's worth anything....paid my friend 100 aussie dollars for it!!! many thanks for any help.

Spencer began in 1883, and I would estimate this number at 1892. I can supply a printed booklet on the firm, or compile a report from photos. As for valuation, see Barrie's comments at the top of the forum, and then press www below.

I should have said, if the top key is marked on its side "Brooks Ltd.", they came a limited company around 1893.
