Hello everybody, i am after some info and pics on my piano. Its details are - Morton Bros & Co., London, and the cast iron frame is made by - JH Clark & Co regd no 692590. I CAN SEND IN A PICTURE IF NESS, it looks to me to be about 1890's in to early 1900's ? . I picked it up for nothing, and i am thinking about restoring it as there are a few warp defects with it that i think are repairable, as the company that moved me house didn't have any respect for the piece. What sort of pics are you looking for? Morton Brothers seem to have been around from about 1900 until the second world war. Their frame were made by Clark, as you say.

The name Morton does not appear in any of our general lists of London piano firms so far, up to 1899.

Circa 1900? Morton Bros. piano #5,240, scrapped in 1976. We have the iromn frame.
1911 Kelly’s Directory; Pianoforte Makers & Warehouses include Morton Bros. & Co., 19 Highbury place, London N.
1911 Not lised as bone fide makers by Alfred Dolge “Pianos and their makers”.
1914 Music Trade Directory lists Morton Bros. & Co., 19 Highbury place, Highbury station, London N. Pianos, organs, Perfecta player, Pathe records. And Huddersfield, Edinburgh... [Or so it says, Morton is not listed in either of those places.]
Circa 1925 Morton Bros & Co piano #36,433, perhaps made by Windover?
1928 Musique Adresses Universel lists Morton Bros. & Co., 19 Highbury place, Highbury station, London N5. Pianos, organs, gramophones, music. Described as “Piano manufacturers,” but

Circa 1927? Mortons piano #46,681 was made by Windover, and follows their sequence of serial numbers.
1938 Music Trade Directory lists Morton Bros. & Co., 19 Highbury place, Highbury station, London N5. Pianos, organs, Perfecta player.

Morton Brothers are not thought to have survived the war.

1951 Not listed in the Directory of the British Music Industries.

Like Julie, I have a similar piano of the same name and spec., but could not locate any site with Morton Bros & Co. Mine is in tune and good working order.
