I have a piano with the emblem 'chappell london' and a seriel number of 00448 . I have not found this serial number to match any of the numbers in the table on this site. the piano has ivory keys, and a harp of a metal type.. it does not go out of tune. also, it has another emblem which says 'by royal command of his majesty the king of spain'. I would very much like to find the history of this piano...any help?

Tom.

There is quite a lot in the history section on chappll see www.uk-piano.org/history/chappell/
which includes the serial numbers

However, Bill may be able to do a more detailed report on your piano for a small charge

Chappells have a very long history, and certainly did have an appointment to the King of Spain, which is mentioned on most of their pianos. I can supply booklets on Chappell, and on Royal Appointments, or compile a report based on photos, but no-one anywhere can trace the life history of every piano. The number you quote is not a Chappell serial number, see
