I bought a second hand piano for my 10-year-old daughter, first piano and she just begins playing. Wilh. Manthey Berlin serial number 3399 written on the piano. It is really an old piano. After I bought it I called a specialist for the control of the piano. Specialist said that piano is more than 100 years old and it is useless. And he also said if I want to repair it I have to spend nearly the same as the price that I paid for the piano.
I am confused now. I searched over the internet but couldn't find much about Wilh. Manthey Berlin. Can I get any information about that piano's history and I am open for any advice. Thanks in advance.

We have over twenty thousand piano names on file, and the majority of those are not listed on the internet. Manthey was quite a well-known maker, the number suggests 1900, but no original archives are available to trace the history of individual Manthey pianos. Even if they were, this wouldn't help with your problem, which is not about Manthey, it's about the state of this particular piano...
