Ever since I saw something on the TV last yearabout this uniquely wonderful piece of eccentricity, it has forever intrigued me as I used to live in Sheffield between 1999 and 2002.

Is there anybody out there who has by any chance played it, or even seen it? Are there people who live in Sheffield/Yorkshire who go to hear recitals on it? How does it sound being stuck out in those cruel Sheffield storms? And is it still there, or have the local council got their way and had it removed?

I'd be very interested to hear from you on this subject.

If you google 'sheffield street piano', you'll get a result from the Sheffield Forum. Apparently the council gits came in the night and took it away... Sad

I thought that local protests and campaigns succeeded in over-turning the council's decision?

Yeah, so did I. The local tabloid publication launched a "Save The Street Piano" campaign, in true gung-ho tabloid style, but I don't know whether or not it was successful.

I do not want this topic to turn into a political tennis match, just stay with the piano theme, but it would be a bit of an own goal for the local authority if they did get it removed.

And did the piano ever see a tuner since its appearance on the small screen, I wonder....?

Councils don't care about their public image; that's why they're immune to public opinion on things from planning to refuse collection. Jobsworths, the lot of 'em! Evil or Very Mad

Don't think I was doing any tests, but perhaps I should, my sight reading is pretty poor. Actually, not pretty, just poor.

Possibly too much red wine!

Hi back Grenache!

I meant with that little web pointer to Catherine Holbrook's website I gave u a few weeks back. I was wondering whether or not you'd had a chance to have a go at 'em yet.

With me it's antidepressants, not red wine that impedes my sight reading, although it's improving (slowly but surely)
