I mean, of course, those devices that tilt an upright onto it's back for easy castor/restringing jobs etc.

Do any of you lot have an image of one? Preferably one in use.

Either the folding type or one of those wood/steel fixed jobs (the type that look like a cross between a sleigh and a market barrow) would suffice.

I want to see how the piano lies (centre of gravity wise) so I can knock one up out of mild steel square tubing.

...and then mass produce them Wink

Any image/s will help.

Kennards in Canterbury used to have them made ( made in chestnut)in the 19802.
They were made by the coach bulders in Ashford Kent - Crouch?
They are sure to be still there and may be able to make one

I got the ironwork made at the forge, and the body from plywood. It folds down flat and bolts together. It works!

There are images of catalogue pages showing four different piano tilters on my www.flickr.com page. Enter 'tom tuner' on the search line and click on "People". I can take photos and close-ups of the one I use and get measurements if you need them. Also a couple of accessories (clamps and wedges) that are very helpful.

Thanks Tom T, but I managed to knock one up out of 3 by 2. Cost me 40 quid, folds up, and even takes the weight of a monster Colon Broadwood - with just a few creaks and groans from both the wood and myself.

It's broadly based on this except with more triangulation at the pivot point, steel instead of ply at the swivel and slightly narrower so it fits my car.
A weekend doing what I like doing and a saving of 350 beer vouchers.

David B, I'm waaaaaaayyy too tight to buy one of those lovely, sturdy looking, lightweight, professional looking jobs.
