Hello all,

I just wondering if people can tell me what sort of actions were fitted to smaller Challen grands? Did they ever use the spring and loop action fitted to some of the English baby grands?

If I remember rightly Herberger-Brooks stopped making the spring and loop actions in the late 1960's sometime, but I am interested to know if Challen ever used them before that.

Any information would be welcome.

Thanks,

danz

Yes, some small Challens used the nasty "Schwander D" spring & loop effort made by Herrburger-Brooks.

Interestingly, they also had half-blow soft pedals on some of their grands, a much more effective device than the usual so-called "una corda".
