|

Hello,
I am interested in buying a Knight K20 piano and am curious when it was made. The serial number of the piano is 72062 and the current owner purchased it used in 1993.
Assuming this is a valid serial number and the piano can be dated, are there any problems with this particular generation of K20s? I know that during the early 90s the Knight brand changed ownership. Thank you--I hope this will turn out to be a great instrument! |

Although this is technically history, it's too modern for me! _________________ I do not buy, sell or value pianos, but I sometimes rescue pre-1890 pianos in the UK.
Have a look at the Datemarks page on my own website: http://www.pianogen.org

Thanks for your help. I will keep on looking.
Based on some of the other serial numbers I've seen on this forum, it sounds like this piano might come from the period shortly after the Knight brand was bought in 1990.
What differences are there between Knight pianos that come from before 1990 and those that were made from 1990-1993 (when I understand Knight was owned by Bentley) and from 1993-2003 (when Knight was owned by Whelpdale, Maxwell, & Codd, which bought Bentley)? |

Build quality was not a good when it was at Bentley they improved a little after time When Whelpdale took over the
Build quality should have gone up but if anything is got worse manly apathy in the workforce because of job prospects as the factory was relocating a few hundred miles away

| Thank you, that's very clear. I will post again if I learn anything more about this piano. |
