I have taught piano for many years both privately and in schools, including the Purcell School and the Royal College of Music junior department. Recently moved to Brighton I have started a new private practice whilst continuing my freelance playing activities. I am dedicated to teaching at all levels, from beginners to diploma standard, and am constantly seeking to widen and adapt my methods to suit all abilities. I have recently completed a course on the ABRSM jazz piano syllabus and now offer coaching to Grade 3 jazz piano in addition to the classical exams. I can visit you in your home or teach you in mine. I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians, appearing in their Private Teachers register; this means that I have been CRB checked. I can help you prepare for exams, diplomas, auditions and competitions, or you can simply take lessons for your own enjoyment. Some theory, aural training and, where appropriate, background history are part of the lessons but chiefly the aim is to help you become a better pianist and enjoy whatever music you are learning.
