Fergal began studying with John Gough at the RNCM Junior school in 1994. In 2001 reached the National Semi-Finals of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. In the same year he was a finalist in the Liverpool Young Musician of the Year, and winner of Young musician of Cheshire and Young Musician of Flintshire competitions.As winner of the Lakewood People to People scholarship, in April 2001 he traveled to the U.S where he performed Shostakovich\\\\\\\'s second Piano Concerto with Lakewood Symphony Orchestra.

In 2001 Fergal began the Joint course between Manchester University and the RNCM which he completed in 2005.He also gained his diploma in professional performance (PPRNCM) during this time.

Fergal has performed frequently throughout the U.K as well as appearances in France, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Kazachstan and the United States. As concerto soloist he has performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, Grimethorpe Colliery band, Chester Philharmonic, Lakewood Symphony, and St. Johns Philharmonic orchestras amongst others. As recitalist Fergal has performed at a number of venues including Leeds City Art Gallery, Blackpool Arts Centre, Chester Town Hall (as part of the Chester Summer Music Festival), Chester Cathedral and the Isle of Mann\\\\\\\'s Erin Arts centre. A founding member of the \\\\\\\'Escher Trio\\\\\\\', Fergal is a keen chamber musician and has performed with his trio at venues throughout the UK, including the Duke of Westminster\\\\\\\'s private estate in Eccleston. He has performed for BBC 2 Television and has also appeared as guest speaker on BBC radio 3\\\\\\\'s \\\\\\\'Discovering Music\\\\\\\' programme.

Fergal has received masterclasses from a number of Internationally renowned musicians, including Vladimir Ashkenasy, Stephen Hough, Nelson Goerner, Alexander Melnikov, Ian Fountain, Martin Roscoe, Andrew Haig, Ruth Harte, Pascal Devoyen, and Colin Carr amongst others.

Fergal was recently awarded a full Scholarship from the English speaking Union to attend the International Ravel Academy in St.Jean de Luz as well as a Scholarship from the DAAD for a period of study at a Musikhochschule in Germany. He was awarded 2nd place in the John lill Awards music competition this year and has recently toured with the European Union Youth Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Ashkenasy. Fergal currently divides his time between studies for a Masters programme at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, performing, and private teaching throughout London.
