I have taught Piano and singing since 1994 at my home near the centre of Hertford.
I teach piano from the age of seven and singing from teenage years.
I place much emphasis on musicianship skills such as playing by ear and improvising which leads to early compositions.
Pupils can enter examinations if they wish to do so.
I also play and teach jazz piano and singing, including playing for parties. I also organise concerts for my pupils several times a year and meet up regularly with colleagues to compare notes and to update my methods.
I teach 'Musical Starters' - classes in musicianship for 4-6 year olds. This is every Saturday morning for one hour before they undertake the study of an instrument. In this way (the Tobin Music System - see this demonstrated on YouTube) the theory of music is approached in a fun, group situation, with parents taking an active part.
