I live and teach piano in North Swindon. Age range from 5 to senior citizen. All lessons tailored to individual pupil's needs with emphasis on fun, learning and moving forward as each lesson goes. I will rise to any challenge set me to teach a particular piece of music provided the effort and lessons are taken. Exams catered for under Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Pupils entered to date are achieving good results in both theory and practical. I pride myself in full exam preparation to minimise exam nerves, to make the experience enjoyable/achievable. My own Music Personal Development, I strongly believe in keeping up to date with my own qualified teachers. Recent Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Achievements - Piano Grade 8 (Dec 2004), CT ABRSM teaching qualification (2006), Bb Baritone (brass) Distinction Grade 6 (November 2007), then Distinction Grade 7 (March 2008) and Distinction Music Theory Grade 5 also March 2008 (I decided to update my previous qualification). I felt it was time to update my 1970 school Pass mark - my philosophy is if I am asked to teach a subject, then I get the qualification to prove my skills. Most of my pupils are visual and aural learners. I believe demonstrating how a piece should be place is just as important as attempting to teach it. I also have Trinity College ExamTreble Recorder Grade 6 (Merit) taken in 1976. Watch this space, as I am liable to upgrade this qualification within ABRSM.
I am confident teaching piano up to Grade 6, brass and recorder.
My current studies include studying towards Grade 6 Music Theory, Grades 8 Baritone and ABRSM Dip(Teach and Performance). To broaden my wind instrument skills, I have started to learn the oboe with Pam Shepherd, an excellent local oboe teacher.
