Bristol Choral Society
Bringing Music to the Community for over a Century
We've been around a long time - since 1889! - but we are a forward-looking choir dedicated to a high standard of performance.
Each year we sing music from a wide range of periods and styles.
The Choir
Performing in Bristol CathedralWe are a large, friendly choir of about 170 voices. Entry is by audition but, we hope, a relaxed one! Under our dynamic conductor Adrian Partington we achieve high standards but always seek to widen our repertoire and tackle new challenges. In this we are helped by fine orchestras such as the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and nationally-known soloists. An important aim of the Society is to give young people the opportunity to take part in and enjoy our choral tradition. We have begun outreach work amongst primary schools in Bristol and this year began a choral apprentices scheme. In this students of fifteen years and upwards join the choir and sing in our concerts.
