The course provides hands-on training in the skills and knowledge needed by a piano technician. It is designed for those who wish to have a career in the piano trade, earning a sustainable living through tuning, repairing and restoring pianos.Aims - To provide a basic training in the skills and knowledge needed by a Piano Technician. The course is suitable for those who wish to work in the piano industry as a Tuner/Technician in this country or overseas, to be employed directly by a retail shop, a manufacturer or on a self-employed basis.Piano Tuning - Eighteen individual tuning rooms containing about forty pianos are used exclusively for piano tuning practice. Tuning consists of a series of test exercises each with a target time, progressively building up the skills required for full fine piano tuning.Piano Restoration - Students gain experience of the various repairs on a range of upright and grand pianos.
